I am Daniel Haas, Western Colorado Alliance’s legislative intern, filling in for Political & Organizing Director Jeriel Clark for this week’s legislative report.
As many may know, SB21-200 has been in the news recently, as Governor Polis has been threatening to veto should the bill pass. Due to this, some legislators have been more hesitant to support the bill. You can learn much more about SB21-200 by downloading this factsheet prepared by our friends at Conservation Colorado.
This bill would ensure that Colorado hits the goal of reducing our emissions 90% by 2050 — something that is vital to a sustainable future for our great state. To help this bill, there are three easy actions you can take:
Contact West Slope Senator Kerry Donovan. Explain how pertinent this bill is and ask her to support it.
Reach out to Majority Leader Stephen Fenberg and ask him to let the bill run as soon as possible.
Contact the Governor’s office to explain why it is important that he choose to support the bill and let it pass without a veto.
This bill is one that will have profound impacts on the future of Colorado, let us make sure that it can help push us into the right track!
