Western Colorado Alliance has launched its Youth Voter Initiative! If you – or a student you know – is interested in leading the way to engage our next generation of decision makers and register students to vote, click here to sign up to become a Grassroots Democracy intern. Our Grassroots Democracy interns will be trained in July so they are ready to hit the ground running when school starts in August. Our regional launch event is at the 4th of July parade in Grand Junction on July 4th! We will have a float with students walking alongside and registering people to vote. It’s going to be a blast, but even if you can’t make it, you can still join us an intern!
The Western Colorado Alliance is a non-profit non-partisan entity that supports civic and community engagement no matter political party affiliation. Here at the Alliance we bring people together across western Colorado to build grassroots power through community organizing and leadership development. Our goal is to encourage students to become engaged even before they are eligible to vote, and to view voting as a right and responsibility always. As our future decision makers, the time to register to vote is now!
Jeriel joined the Western Colorado Alliance staff in February 2017 (back when we were still Western Colorado Congress), but you may remember her as our Canvass Director for the successful Minimum Wage ballot initiative in 2016! In her young career, Jeriel has worked with engaged citizens across Colorado on issues ranging from veterans' affairs, healthcare and women’s rights. Jeriel has called Grand Junction and the Western Slope home for 16 years, and enjoys running, hiking, biking and crafting with her daughter Emma.
