Perspectives, our Alliance’s 42nd Annual Conference, was held last Saturday, August 20, at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Grand Junction. It was our first face-to-face Conference in three years (and also our first hybrid live/Zoom Conference).
During the business meeting portion of the Conference, Andreya Krieves was re-elected as Chair of the Alliance Board, and Bill Wellman was re-elected as Treasurer.
Also, the 2023 Western Colorado Alliance Platform was approved. You can read the final document here.
During lunch, attendees were able to listen to an engaging and inspiring keynote speech by Paul Getsos, long-time movement leader and co-author of Tools for Radical Democracy. We were disappointed at the last moment that Paul wasn’t able to join us in person due to an untimely outbreak of COVID, but were thankful we could still enjoy his wisdom and humor via Zoom.
There was another aspect that made the Conference very successful for us — the presence throughout of some of our valued allied organizations, like Hispanic Affairs Project, Mutual Aid Partners, Western Slope Native American Resource Center, Clifton Community Leaders Project, Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition, Action is Safer, Delta Pride, Cleantech Business Coalition, and Difiende. We thank those organizations which joined us on Saturday, and hope we could amplify their missions and messaging.
There’s just no overstating how happy we were to be in the physical presence of our friends and colleagues. If you joined us on August 20, thank you so much! And if you weren’t able to make it, please know there’s a spot for you at our 43rd Annual Conference next year!
