This summer, our Alliance is doing something different. We’re going to connect to residents in our communities with our ears. It’s called Deep Listening, and we can’t wait to get started.
You may have heard us talk about this powerful strategy before. Our Alliance wants to connect with people’s hearts and minds around divisive issues to create the change we need right now. It’s a technique which has proven extremely effective in other parts of the country, and we’re eager to use it here. But we need your help. We want to show you how the process works, because we need you to help us do this.
We’re meeting on June 1, June 15, and June 23 in Grand Junction, Montrose, and Rifle, respectively. We’ll discuss the ins and outs of what deep listening looks like, workshop how we leverage our own personal stories to make connections, and make plans for our first conversations. You don’t have to make a commitment, but we want you to know what we are up to. Bring a friend — bring five! — but most importantly, bring yourself! Locations and exact times are on the sign-up sheet. Please reserve your seat no
Jeriel joined the Western Colorado Alliance staff in February 2017 (back when we were still Western Colorado Congress), but you may remember her as our Canvass Director for the successful Minimum Wage ballot initiative in 2016! In her young career, Jeriel has worked with engaged citizens across Colorado on issues ranging from veterans' affairs, healthcare and women’s rights. Jeriel has called Grand Junction and the Western Slope home for 16 years, and enjoys running, hiking, biking and crafting with her daughter Emma.
