Western Colorado Alliance for Community Action is seeking a full-time Office Administrator and Bookkeeper to join our team. The position is based in Grand Junction, CO.

Job Summary: The Office Administrator and Bookkeeper is a critical member of the Western Colorado Alliance staff team. They manage and oversee the basic operations of the organization to ensure efficiency and functionality of the office and internal systems. They work in collaboration with the Executive Director and the contract accountant to manage our QuickBooks and internal finances. The ideal candidate will be competent in prioritizing and working with little supervision. They will be self-motivated and trustworthy.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Coordinate office activities and operations to secure efficiency and compliance to Western Colorado Alliance policies
  • Manage business phone calls and correspondence
  • Maintain general office files
  • Ensure the smooth and adequate flow of information to facilitate business operations
  • Support budgeting and bookkeeping procedures in collaboration with contract accountant
  • Managing employee benefit programs including health care, dental and vision and IRA
  • Process and oversee monthly employee reporting (timesheets, credit card reports, etc.)
  • Create and update records and databases with personnel, financial, and other data
  • Assist Executive Director with oversight and maintenance of contracts and other tasks related to “running the business” aspects of the organization
  • Submit timely reports and prepare presentations/proposals as assigned
  • Assist colleagues whenever necessary
  • Make travel and logistical arrangements for events and other staff as requested

Essential Qualifications:

  • Commitment to Western Colorado Alliance’s mission and vision
  • Proven experience as an office administrator, office assistant or similar role
  • Ability to get along well with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Desire / ability to work both independently & in team settings
  • Familiarity with office management procedures and basic accounting principles
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Competency in CRM database systems and other data tracking software
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks
  • Attention to detail and strong organization skills

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • First-hand experience of western Colorado, and a good understanding of the area’s culture and issues.
  • Experience working for a nonprofit organization working for social change, on environmental issues, or on a political campaign.

Salary and Benefits: Salary range $40-$45K depending on experience. Benefits include group health insurance, IRA after one year of employment, professional development opportunities, and sabbatical after 5 years.
