This September 20, young people across the world are rising up to defend the future of life on this planet. Grand Junction isn’t going to miss out. We’ve waited for 30 years for politicians to act. It’s time to be our own climate heroes and #MakeEarthCoolAgain.
“Our house is on fire. I am here to say, our house is on fire. Adults keep saying: ‘We owe it to the young people to give them hope.’ But I don’t want your hope. I don’t want you to be hopeful. I want you to panic. I want you to feel the fear I feel every day. And then I want you to act. I want you to act as you would in a crisis. I want you to act as if our house is on fire. Because it is.”
— Greta Thunberg
There will be speakers! Actions! Music! And art!
At 4 pm, CMU students will rally on campus around the climate crisis. Join us after class as we lead the way to the main event happening at 5 pm at Lincoln Park.
At 5 pm in the grassy loop area at Lincoln Park, we’ll hear from student speakers and others, engage in an interactive art experience, take direct actions to demand climate urgency be addressed at every level, and learn how, every day, we can contribute as individuals to #MakeEarthCoolAgain.
This movement needs you, and you need it.
