Last year was a heavy session for Colorado, and our state leaders stayed busy long after it ended working right into this year. They are poised and ready to enter 2020’s legislative session with big ideas to address Colorado’s most pressing issues. Get ready for a session full of conversation around clean and renewable energy, sustainability, water conservation, consumer protections, affordable living, and more.
With the 2020 General Election now just 11 months away, we anticipate our state legislators will use this session to prove to their constituents they are representing their best interests in every vote they take. This is the year to let them know our Western Colorado communities are paying attention to the laws being discussed in Denver, and we will hold our leaders accountable to the issues most important to creating healthy, just, and self-reliant communities for us all.
Now is the time to get involved, so when the election comes around, you know which issues are imperative to prioritize as we decide the leaders who will carry Colorado forward in the years ahead.
Lend your power to our People’s Lobby Trip 2020, and meet face to face with the state lawmakers who represent you! We’ll head over to the Capitol February 24-26 and would love to have you with us.
This is going to be an amazing opportunity to take an active role in grassroots democracy, by speaking to your representatives about the issues which ignite your passions. Please join us! Transportation, lodging, and dinners are provided. We’ll have more details soon about what you can expect on this adventure, but we wanted you to be able to reserve the dates now.
Don’t forget — you can sign up now to reserve your place!
And it that’s just not enough, join us on our weekly Legislative calls, every Tuesday at 1 pm, to track and discuss bills most important to the members of Western Colorado Alliance as they move through the Capitol. On issues most important to you, we will help you write letters, send emails, make calls, or testify in support or opposition of bills that are being considered. And keep an eye out for interns with our West Slope Youth Vote program as they head to the Capitol and guide our leaders to better understand what issues matter most to youth in Western Colorado.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out to jeriel@westerncoloradoalliance.org with any questions about the upcoming session, or to get involved!

In her young career, Jeriel has worked with engaged citizens across Colorado on issues ranging from veterans' affairs, healthcare and women’s rights. Jeriel has called Grand Junction and the Western Slope home for 16 years, and enjoys running, hiking, biking and crafting with her daughter Emma.
