Take the ARPA Survey!

Western Colorado Alliance Members are working to make sure Grand Junction emerges from this pandemic stronger than we were before. As we have mentioned we have been leading up to sending out a survey that will help us, help you make that possible.

The Covid-19 pandemic, like previous crises, has shown that communities of color, poor people, workers, and rural communities are the ones hit the hardest and impacted for a longer period of time. It’s also shown that the federal government is required to create solutions to address the crisis, especially for those most impacted.

President Biden and Congress have passed the American Rescue Plan, which will provide for those in need and help states address the impacts of the crisis. Colorado will receive billions, and $10.4 million will go directly to Grand Junction!

We want to envision how we can make a stronger, fairer Grand Junction with those funds and after that has been decided as well. Community leaders are consulting city-wide with individuals and groups impacted by Covid through surveys and small group meetings to identify the investments that are best for our county.  Make your voices heard by the committee on how they should be spending those federal funds!

Your experience and perspective are crucial to informing those making the decisions. Please take the survey and share it with others who care about their community, we hope to receive responses by Friday, February 8, 2022!

About the author

María Luiza Peréz Chavéz (who sometimes goes by Mary) works closely with the Western Colorado Alliance of Mesa County affiliate group. María is fluent in both English and Spanish and sometimes works as a skilled interpreter. But her love for language goes beyond just English and Spanish; currently, she is also studying French and Japanese! One day, she hopes to attend law school as an avenue to help those in need. Even with her busy schedule, María’s priority is her family. As the eldest of seven children, she has always felt the need to support her parents in any way she can. And somehow, she still finds time to read, swim, listen to music, watch movies, draw, play video games, and hang out with friends!
